We are pleased to be able to hold the branch auction which is one of the highlights of our calendar for many members. It is a chance to grab a bargain or make a bit of extra cash by selling those unwanted horological items.

There is always something for everyone at this event, so why not dig out those horological treasures that have been lurking under the bench or in the back of the cupboard, you may be pleasantly surprised at how much they realise.

This is a private auction and is therefore only open to members of, the BHI, BHI Branches, West Dean College or Epping Forest Horology Centre. Please bring proof of membership to enable us to issue a bidding number.

Details are as follows:

Booking in will commence at 18:15 in the Lindley Room which is the left hand door side room. This will need to be done quietly and no entrance to the main hall will be allowed.

Entry to the main hall – and viewing – will not be available until 19.30.

NO LOTS WILL BE TAKEN IN AFTER 19:45 to allow time for administration and for a start of around at 20:30.

The branch has been entrusted with the disposal of the late John Hatt’s effects, some of which will be available if members lots do not fill the auction.

Payments for purchasers up to £100 are required to be made in cash. By prior arrangement and agreement with the Treasurer we will accept cheques for total payments over £100.

No commission is charged to buyers. Sellers only pay £1.50 per lot entered. If you wish to set a reserve, you must bid up to that price and collect your lot at the end of the evening if not sold.

We reserve the right to refuse any lots containing fluids / powders and the like that are not in secure & sealed containers.

Electrical / electronic items are sold with no guarantee as to their condition or safety. All such equipment should be checked by a suitably qualified electrician.

We are entrusted with Auctioning the late John Hatt’s effects.

This is the third auctions as this collection is vast. To include tools, lathes, parts, and equipment.

This is a private auction and is therefore only open to members of, the BHI, BHI Branches, West Dean College, students from the Birmingham school of Horology or Epping Forest Horology Centre. Please bring £3.00 registration fee plus proof of BHI or South London Branch membership to enable us to issue a bidding number.

Light refreshments (tea and coffee) will be available

The South London Branch Auction, 16th March 2019.

To be held at The White Hart Barn, Godstone, RH9 8DU.

The hall opens for viewing at 11.00 and the auction will commence at 13.00. Tea and coffee
will be available. There are cafés and pubs within walking distance of the White Hart Barn.

This is a private auction and is therefore only open to members of, the BHI, BHI Branches, West Dean College or Epping Forest Horology Centre. Please bring proof of membership to enable us to issue a bidding number. Non members may join the South London Branch of the BHI at our normal annual membership rate prior to the auction.

• There will be a £3 registration fee.
• Payments up to one hundred pounds to be made in cash.

This year we will be auctioning a member’s complete workshop along with items brought in by members. So why not dig out those horological treasures that have been lurking under the bench or in the back of the cupboard, you may be pleasantly surprised at how much they realise.

We can only cope with a maximum of 150 lots on the evening so entry must be based on a first come first served basis.

This is a private auction and is therefore only open to members of the BHI, Branch members and horology students from West Dean College. Please bring proof of membership to enable us to issue a bidding number.

2018 April Open Day

British Horological Institute – South London Branch
Open Day – Saturday 14th April 2018
The South London Branch of the British Horological Institute held an open day on Saturday 14th April 2018. We welcomed over 300 visitors.
Branch Vice President Ron Rose said “the purpose of the day was to promote awareness of horology and the activities of the British Horological Institute in today’s world and show that there are still opportunities to develop a rewarding career in horology.”
The previous Open Day was held in 2016 and was also attended by several hundred members of the public with many spending several hours at the show participating in the activities. This years show was expanded to include three halls and includes representatives from organisations offering training and careers in horology.
The day will showcased:
Clocks and models built by BHI members.
Clock Case woodworking.
Interactive demonstrations with something to take away -cleaning, polishing, silvering, drilling, reaming
Working on the watchmakers lathe – balance staff turning.
Engine Turning.
Clockwork wheel cutting.
Engraving.
Association of Musical Box Collectors.
Turret Clocks – Cumbria Clock Co
Antiquarian Horological Society
Local Evening Classes
BHI short courses.
Epping Forest Horology Centre

We are auctioning the tools and horological effects of Roland Jarvis, Daniel Philippart and clocks and watches from the collection of George Hammond.
A selection from around 250 lots that will include tools, watch and clock parts, books and miscellany.
