HOUDIN MYSTERY CLOCKS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Francoise Collanges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For our June\nlecture we look forward to welcoming Francoise Collanges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based in\nBrussels but also working in the UK and in France, Fran\u00e7oise <\/a>is a trained horologist, specialising in the conservation and\ncare of historical objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the last few\nyears, Francoise has collected as much information and pictures that she could\non Robert-Houdin’s mystery clocks. Her lecture will give some historical\nbackgrounds to Robert-Houdin’s clocks and examine what are their distinctive\nfeatures, and the issues she has met with them. Her aim is to better understand\nhow they were made, by whom, and how well they are meant to perform. Francoise\nlooks forward to discussing with our members the experiences they have had with\nsuch clocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trained in\nsome of the best schools in conservation in Europe (Paris-Sorbonne in France,\nWest Dean College in the UK), she embraces the ethics defined by the leading\nnational and international institutions in the field of conservation (see ECCO<\/a> guidelines) and provides the highest standards of work. She is\na member of the Institute of Conservator-restorers in Ireland (ICRI<\/a>) and of Icon<\/a> (UK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A member of\nthe AHS council Fran\u00e7oise trained for two years at West Dean College<\/a> (UK) in the conservation of clocks and obtained\na MA in Conservation Studies, before settling as a free-lance conservator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
